Join Sunday School Yoga for an advanced studies post-grad teacher training course that covers the education and approach needed for competent and confident hands on assisting. For many new teachers, putting your hands on a students body is a scary and unnatural thing. And that's okay. It means you care. Learning how to Assist the room, while teaching and touching is a task that takes time, focus and experience. So we have a whole course dedicated to just this. This course focuses entirely on how to build your knowledge and know-how for hands-on support in class.

This 50 hour training course is essential training shares in depth techniques behind the power of the touch, and the SSY assisting methodology a needed for safe and supported manual adjustments.

This course will focus on 8 key themes throughout the training days that will help to curate, clarify and cultivate the best teacher within you.

  • SSY Assisting Methodology - Learning and understanding the ‘why’ when we touch

  • Assisting Codes of Conduct - Understanding the important of respect and care when supporting your students

  • Be Prepared & Serving the Experience - Cultivating the students experience; before, during & after class

  • Assisting the Body, not the Posture - Postural analysis, learning to read the body, understanding subtle alignment

  • Working with Injuries - Supporting with props, options and modifications

  • Direct and Compound Assisting Techniques - Assisting the body in different disciplines and contact points

  • Facilitated Teaching with Hands on Support - The art of teaching & touching at the same time

  • Deepening the Experience - Supporting different levels of students; brand new beginners, to advanced practitioners

As we continue to grow as teachers it’s important to cultivate the skills to facilitate our teachings with more than just asana information. This 50 hour course offers a key part of any teachers development to further develop their craft and mastery as a teacher. SSYTT courses are aimed at ensuring that real world techniques are shared that enable you to have practical application ready to incorporate into your teaching straight away.

Welcome to Teaching Techniques & Seva Methodology, a 50hr SSYTT Post Graduate Teacher Training Course designed to share and support your development as a teacher. Throughout this training we will cover the big picture and the small details of teaching yoga and look in deeper into tools & techniques that can help to refine the way we design and deliver our teachings.

What is Seva? Simply put, Seva is the sanskrit word for selfless service. And as teacher we must first understand our role as teachers is to be in the service of our students and the holistic practice of yoga. 

What is the Seva Methodology? At SSY, Seva Methodology is our service in action, but more specially, service in the action of teaching yoga. This methodology is a system that provides a roadmap to mastery. For us, teaching to the SEVA Methodology is to cultivate an ego-less experience on & off the mat for both student’s and teachers alike.

This course will focus on 8 key themes throughout the training days that will help to curate, clarify and cultivate the best teacher within you.

  • Who am I? - Establishing your voice and defining your purpose as a teacher

  • The Language of a Teacher - The importance of language as a teacher cuing, creative dialogue and delivery precise and effective instructions

  • The Art of Alignment - Learning how to align the body, not the pose. A focus on anatomy in action

  • Seva Methodology - Class Planning, & Intelligent Sequencing

  • Teaching & Touching - Applying hands on assisting while supporting and maintaining the flow of your class

  • Meditation Techniques - Learn to teach essential techniques

  • Business of Yoga - Establish your business, brand and personal path as a teacher in the modern era of Yoga

  • Building your community - How to create your tribe, the essential steps to finding your people
